John Cross "Jr" as his parents would call him, was born to a young Alliance Officer and the acting Head Medic aboard the SSV Hastings under the command of Captian Belliard. The couple turned into marriage and soon the firstborn daughter of the family came to be, a few years later, a breach during a raid against pirates in the skyllian verge would make Diana be exposed to element zero while carrying his unexpected son, which turned John in becoming a biotic. He was born in a medical station in space during RnR.

As a biotic potential, he was quickly assigned to the Ascension project, which made him be away from his family at a very early age, being thrown into a completely strange evironment he barely passed his tests and was assigned an L3 implant, which his body would constantly reject, giving him lost of health problems, from nosebleeds to migrains, sleeping problems and blackouts, his unstable control of his biotics made him a target for bullying for the "better" kids. It is pressumed that the constant reminder of weakness and abuse made him develop a chronic depression that was diagnosed in his teenage years, developing also a low-self esteem complex, but also giving him the determination to improve from his natural weakneses.

After he managed to pass the Ascension project, he was quickly assigned to the Alliance Navy, Cross, which at that point was how people used to call him, either by formality or as a nickname, was not recommended to become a vanguard when he applied for it and thus he became an intelligence officer, his specialies were, cyber warfare and alien relations. But during this time, he also applied to go through a basic engineering course. It is known that during his training he became intimate with a female trainee, which would end up diying a few months later during a live combat maneuver. Nevertheless, Cross was determined to complete his training and his abilities as a soldier bloomed more than his abilities as a biotic, and thus, he qualified for the ICT program, which he completed in record time up until he would reach the N6 designation.

After his training was completed Cross was assigned to the SSV Hawking, where he quickly rose through the ranks as he used all the skills he learned, until the Alliance decided to improve their relations with the Turian Hierarchy, which he was reasigned to a special forces unit, composed of half humans and half turians. Their main objective would be to patrol the skyllian verge from pirates and to move to S-O-S signals from nearby colonies. During this time, Cross eventually got the position of squad leader, where he would end up developing a relationship with what would turn out his fiancee.

Cross and his squad would turn out to reach a great level of discipline and teamwork. Hitting hard blows to batarian pirates that threatened to raid human colonies. Until one mission where everything went to hell. A S-O-S signal picked up from a drifting ship, which its IFFs turned out to be hostile. Cross felt a trap incoming and requested to not be sent down there, but his Captain ordered him to do so. When him and his squad moved in, they found themselves cornered as an ambush would hit them. The first would be his partner, who would end up dying to an improvised sticky explosive thrown at her. Cross and the survivors of his squad were able to push the pirates back, but the casualties were more than heavy, as most of his friends layed dead. Soon, he would resign from his position and ask to be reasigned somewhere else.

New eden personel entered in contact with him a month after his last deployment, and quickly assigned him to the newly formed crew under Captain Jade Mcallen. During his time, he spent alot of his time improving his biotics under Jade's tutellage, and soon enough he was deemed as "experienced" enough to become an N7 Vanguard, getting an upgrade from his biotic implants, from the old L3s to the L5n implants. It is known that Cross suffered from sexual assault from part of the Captain one night where both were highly drunk. Time after, it would also be known that the Captain would become pregnant with his daughter, named first Elizabeth McAllen until Cross adopted her after Jade's death. After that time, he would be promoted as the Second in command of the newly promoted Captain Davey, but this wouldnt last long, as he would be called by unknown sources to leave the ship. And so, the board decided to promote him to Captain of the ship. Now, with no real training as an real officer, and thinking he's not the correct man for the job, he does his best to keep the crew together, while also trying to deal with the various enemies that threaten with the safety of everyone in the ship...
