Grayson Raccio was born in the colony known as "Osiris" located on the plant Athens in the Artemis Tau Cluster named after an old world god. The colony was known for breed the most powerful and intelligent soldiers (Think about this as "Mandalore" from "Star Wars", or Sparta, if that helps you imagine it). The men of Osiris were either enlisted into a military or sold off as combatants in PMCs. The colony had a strict rule of birth and a unique social class system, you were only allowed, three children, but once your male child hit 18 or you female child 15 they were no longer considered yours, they were either married off if they were a female or sent off for their advanced combat training/enlistment. If you were lucky and had three males you were automatically set as a higher middle class, and if those men turned out to be phenomenal warriors you were put into the high class. If you gave birth to two men and one female you were put into the middle class, and if you those males ended up phenomenal warriors you were put into the higher class, and it trickles down from there.
Grayson was an only child, so we his family started as a lower middle, but as his training continued their social class rose and rose. Eventually, Grayson was in the top ten of his and he went through his "Trial of Man", and he received the name of "Hellsing" and was given the blessing of sight (The Bionic Eye). He was then enlisted into the Alliance Marines as a Lieutenant.
During his years in serving he has seen a lot of death. A story he will remember was during his time on Torfan. He was the commanding officer of a ground mission on Trofan. The year was 2178, the Skyllian Blitz was in full effect, but the Batarian decided to retaliate against the republic by creating strongholds underground on a small moon, Torfan. Grayson’s commanding officer, Major Kyle left the mission up to the discretion of Grayson, who was a Captain at the time. Grayson planned an all-out assault on the strongholds, little did his Marines know was that only very little Marines would make it out alive. The assault took place at 0400, it started the detonation of bombs placed underground that block any exit from the stronghold, it cracked the tunnels and allowed the soil to fill it in, trapping the Batarians. Next Grayson sent in is Expeditionary force in, they were all eliminated but not in vain, they opened up the opportunity to send in his flame units, he lit up all of the Batarians, and their stronghold. There were Batarians trapped in a bunk and pleaded for help, they surrendered. But all the Captain did was light them up with his assault rifle. In the end, the casualty count was 56 Marines out of the 100 that were sent, and 432 Batarians that were in the stronghold, no Batarian survived. Captain Grayson received the title of “Butcher of Torfan”, and was praised back home. Inside the Captain knew what he did was terrible, but necessary. It tore him up inside, he considered himself nothing more than a killing monster. He was confronted by the Captain after he was honorably discharged from the Marines. She said that there was a new assignment that he would be good at. She allowed him to join her crew about the INV Estrada. Grayson has now served about 6 months with the Captain and is completely loyal to serving her. He has developed a romantic relationship with a crew member and has become great friends with a Quarian he calls “Mael”.

Grayson's goals are just to continue doing what he was bred to do, fight, and be loyal. He was hired for his combat experience and overall knowledge of combat operations.
