During its Tests the Artificial intelligence learned as it was Sent on Several Assignments it picking up on hunting Tactics as well as standard soldier protocol from the military though as it grew in knowledge it the original designers grew nervous that it would turn on them like the Geth had originally done. This fear was proven to not fufill itself Fenrir even though possessing high intelligence and the capability of learning. his human Designer had programmed him with the Want and need to protect others much like a real Dog.
As the years passed Fenrir was modified with thicker armor while having a more leaner frame, it was also Equipped with a system very similar to a omni tool which allowed it to access computers and other electronic devices in order to hack and Breach through the systems, The final improvement Being a Remote Backup That would be Activated if Fenrirs Body Was Damaged Beyond Repair, allowing its Systems to be implanted into a new body when one was Ready.
Fenrir Was Recently Sent to the Ship in Order to Aid them in the War Against the reapers and on their free lance mission. his Creator Wanting The Ai to learn how to function properly in a Squad and to Gather efficient Data on how to Take down The Reapers.

Why were they hired by New Eden? : Fenrir Was given to the Ship as a Gift and as a Tool for them to use, the overall goal of Fenrir is to learn more about combat in the field and how to properly work with as a unit with otherss, something it had not had the chance to do properly during its test phases.
