How long have you played on the server?: Not long. I'm very new, but went through the drill just fine. I'm not new to roleplaying though.

Characters name/nicknames: Duscha Teutogen, 'Patherborn' (title)

Characters Race((Be aware Quarian, and Turian are application only, and must have a detailed backstory in order for the character to be accepted.)) : Human

Characters Backstory((The longer, and more detailed the backstory, the most likely you will be accepted.)) :
Calm before the storm
Pather-3 is a small urbanized planet largely gripped by privatized control, with a heavy export focus on raw materials. Its politics are complicated, to say the least; the planetary government must focus its diplomatic ability to appease both the private company their economy relies on, but also the criminal syndicates and foreign labourers that form nearly half their population. The company technically has as much jurisdiction of the planet as the galactic government, therefore, though this is more a public viewpoint than an official one. The planet is broken into two 'classes' or 'types' of sections: "Citizen's section" where the cities and towns are controlled solely by planetary government, and the common citizens are allowed as the name implies; and the "Worker's section" controlled by both the company and local government, where foreign labourers are assigned. The latter is by-and-large inhabited by slaves, criminals, and the indebted sent to do their time. Lax immigration policies for these sections has allowed career criminals to create large criminal networks, ripe with black market smuggling and other underground activity. Its growth is further fed by the abhorrently poor logistics and book-keeping meant to oversee the sentences and debts of the workers, causing many sentences to be for life. Following the first Pather uprising, security was assertively made the responsibility of the planetary government. However, as transportation is still the responsibility of the company, some have referred to their situation as an inflating 'balloon' ready to pop. In response to the continuing threat of insurgency, and the unorthodox issues presented with the area, the 'Orderguard' battalions were created; a specialized police force that is part lawmen, prison guards, and counter-insurgents all. In the most critical of situations, the militarized battalions are used. The needs of the Orderguard are heavily discouraging: An intensive and extremely dangerous environment, and assignments far away from home. It is heavily propagandized as a result, but the occupation is still in constant need for more applicants.

While crime-infested hellholes dot the landscape, that is not to say it represents the entirety of society; citizens live their lives in relative comfort, in areas able to separate itself from the criminal networks populating the land. Areas closest to designated work areas are known to be physically walled off to keep non-citizens out of these locations. The special situations are not applicable here, causing the Orderguard members to spend the majority of their time away from home as a result - One of the many reasons it is not a popular career choice, but this breeds in its members a comradery more akin to the military.

Duscha was, as he would find, quite lucky to not be in the Worker's section. A born citizen and only child, he was raised by a single mother - She was a cold analyst in mindset, and a psychologist by trade. She was not particularly abusive, but not exactly loving either; she taught Duscha from a young age to see the world in a cold, but objective lens. She had little time or care for anything else. Again, while not abusive the relationship was still 'cold.' Duscha grew to feel distant from his mother, and in the absence of guidance in moral or empathetic development he took more from friends and teachers. This distancing was furthered when he grew to learn to recognize the ways a human could be manipulated, thus recognizing the many subtle times his mother would use it on him to get her way. This relationship remains complicated; though family by blood, there is little connection and they are more akin to acquaintances in attitude. Still, he was instilled with an instinctive recognition for the facts over his or other's feelings.

Growing up, he was pressured to take the same trade as his mother. Though he had an appreciation for the intellectual fields, he did not take an interest in these himself. In an attempt to become more independent, he used the schooling benefits offered by the reserves. However, in the new environment he took a liking to the physical lifestyle. In college, he developed an appreciation for law. The two interests mixed together and drove him to enrolling in a police academy. Here he took on the Orderguard program. By hard work and dedication, he passed. He is assigned to Sector D-10, locally known as 'Wormtown.'

The calm is over
The Orderguard's duties are many, and strenuous. However, Duscha managed to survive. He survived it all - corrupt comrades, violent gangs. The dark alleys of D-10 made him into a better officer, and it had shown in time; it didn't happen quickly, but he was sure it came at the right moment, when his pending application to join the militarized battalions was accepted.
Duscha was wrung like a wet towel, tested in all his limits and forced to push them - Cold temperatures, bruises, scrapes, cuts, starvation, whatever it took. He wouldn't call it easy, that would have been lying. He was not remarkable by the comparison of his peers, but he survived - Many washed out or failed, but not him. There is a lot of pride to be had in that, and it was found not lacking in him when he stood with the others who earned their patch. The Orderguard are tough bastards, either by the nature of their training or the experiences in the field. The militarized battalions, though, are something else entirely; HVT assassinations and kidnappings, black market raids, hostage rescue. They are the anti-terrorism unit, the special forces of the police, and their territory is bordered between the dangerous areas of Pather-3 to the other shit-holes. Following Duscha's graduation, the field hardened him further. The ability to disconnect himself learned from his childhood served him well - very well - when he needed to do what was necessary for 'Order.'

But as the title says, the calm is over. He served with the Orderguard for long enough to develop the skills which would be needed to survive, for the second Pather uprising was coming; though the first was dealt with, it was not out of the fresh memory of the public. Certainly, the Planetary defense force was able to quell it before the fighting spilled into the Citizen's sections, no further action was able to be done to answer the demands of its insurgents. With the growing black market and criminal networks, rebels and insurgents found it easy to rebuild themselves. There were lessons from the last failed attempt though, and it was taken to heart; comms equipment was the greatest concern of the Orderguard following the first war, a resource more dangerous than any gun or bomb offered in the underground. Dealing in it is considered an act of active terrorism, with brutal consequences for its discovery - If it is discovered. As is known now, they weren't; throughout the sectors the outraged workers' population were connecting themselves via communications, planning and preparing. Their first strike couldn't be a drawn out fight for land, it couldn't provide the PDF time to respond - So it didn't.

The first assault storms Sector D-10, F-5, C-2, A-8, and various others of more minor note. Orderguard battalions are completely overrun, steamrolled under brutal surprise assaults. The situation snow-balls; areas without connection to other rebellions hear about the efforts non-the-less, and even those merely of priorly neutral standing are encouraged to fight by the efficiency of the first attack. The areas had always been exaggerateed as a warzone, but now that was no exaggeration. Duscha is one of many to have been overrun from the attack. Surviving Orderguards are hunted in spite, and the government is forced to enact emergency evacuations anywhere possible. Unfortunately, they are only capable on the borders of insurgent territory - Elsewhere is designated a red-zone, leaving their officers to fend for themselves. Again, Duscha is one of many to not be evacuated.
PDF are deployed to regain order, but are met with open aggression. Efficiency of the uprising inspires more and more, until only a minority can be desperately kept under order. Pather-3 falls into civil war.

"Order in Chaos. We know the cost."
Insurgents of various sectors face struggles from within: Supply lines raided or destroyed, leaders and moral figures executed, patrols brutalized in public. The Orderguard are tough bastards, and Duscha's career does not end where the uprising begins - The fighting continues behind their lines, with the militarized and common officers engaging in guerilla tactics. Duscha's experience of the war is primarily spent in this way - Sleeping next to corpses, making bombs over dim lamplight, executing prisoners, raiding outposts and patrols, ambushing convoys, and whatever else it would take. Every breakfast ended in the name of their motto, and they promised for every night that it would be done justice.

As the war draws on, the guerilla actions behind insurgent lines hinders their forces and operations. The PDF is slowly able to make contact, and attacks are from then better coordinated to great efficiency. Following the taking of F-5 and G-2, there is an opening for Orderguard to evacuate. However, in light of their ability in the field the "Crisis Event Specialist Conscription" bill is passed. Those able to fight, even from the Orderguard, are forced back into the field. In time, in much time, the second uprising is quelled. Those notable from the Orderguard and Planetary Defense Force are commemorated.

The medals don't help the pain, though. Duscha's demons run deep from what he'd seen and done in the war. It was something most Orderguard understood. The motto of every member is "Order in Chaos," but veterans commonly have an addition to that: "We know the cost." Today, those without the 'full' tattoo are rarely seen as equal comrades.

The calm after the storm
The second uprising proves more devastating than the last, with casualties heavy on both sides. Citizen's sectors are exposed to the fighting, causing public outrage pressuring the government to reform its agreement. Pather-3 appeals to galactic government to enforce diplomatic agreements between it and the company - A proposition agreed upon, but with conditions: The company's wide usage of slaves and indebted is restricted, as is the amount of territory that can be offered to them at all. The company's control less 'dwindles' as much as 'burns,' and the usable territory for foreign workers halves. In addition, a greater portion of the funds are to be offered to the local government for the purpose of personally handling logistical transportations. It is a decision that lessens the situation, but does not quite 'solve' it. Regardless, the danger areas decline heavily - Thus, the Orderguard's membership does as well. Many leave the planet to become mercenaries, or enroll in the alliance military. The former leads to the creation of 'Phirrest,' or "Private HIgh Risk REsponse and Security Team."

Duscha, meanwhile, is undergoing continuing therapy over what he'd experienced. With knowledge of the tricks, he constantly stands in his own way in hindering treatment. On his own, he slowly falls into a pit of self-destructive behaviour where alcohol and drugs give him the temporary peace he needs. He never joins Phirrest, and never reapplies to the Orderguard, instead using his money to leave the planet and travel far away from there. He eventually applies to join New Eden.

What is your character's goal aboard the ship? Why were they hired by New Eden? : Duscha's goal is to build the comradery he misses from his paramilitary service, and find a way to come to terms with what is troubling him from the past. He was hired for his knowledge and experience in urban combat, demolitions, and unorthodox warfare.
