I posted a thread what map people would like to see in the future MAP UPDATE https://revivalservers.com/index.php?threads/new-halo-map.16457/ . After seeing all the votes in William and I decided to take your word for it and start working on the update.

We just want to know what you guys would like to see on the server. What kind on environment? Snow ? Desert?
We are just looking for suggestions. Soo feel free to comment and get us know.

I think we should have a forest map with a sea on the edge of it kind of like were on a island.. Would be cool to make it as big as possible.

I feel as if a deep Forest with slight mountains Those mountains Could be the location of the oni base. And in the Forest their could be a clearing Which would have the Main UNSC Base with A frigate and a Cruiser in the Air For Naval and SOS/HOJ , Along with that have 2 outposts on the map for men to man as well as little Secrets thrown around to make for a very interesting home map.

I think we should see some more interesting areas in our new maps like maybe a new type of underwater area that could be used for a secret base or some objective for mini events but it all really depends on how big the map will be and what type of map everyone wants. I also do feel like a mix of environments would be a good idea as well because we wouldn't need to be stuck in one place and we go to different areas so people wouldn't get bored of walking around in one place all the time and get to see all the places around the map. Now knowing how people act on the server I think bases and areas for different groups should be split up some closer than others but people will know what their bunks are or where they will be staying so they don't fight over it. I do think groups like Naval should maybe have their own floating ship like they did on the old snow map but the groups around the UNSC like marines and army should have a bigger space to walk around and more things to keep them occupied when nothing is going on

so, as I posted on the other thread:
Honestly, what if we did a multi-biome map. A map that has a forest area, a Snow area, a desert, and maybe even an oceanic area or grass planes or even a mountain to overlook the others.


In this way no one will get tired of the same old biome cause we have a multitude of environments to use. it could be a sorta 4 corners map with a nice surrounding.

Heck, you could build stuff like a base in the mountain for a pseudo 'castle' base from halo reach for oni's use, or have SoS set up in the tundra or desert. I would recommend (in this case) having the UNSC base modeled after the snow maps base potentially, and have it exist in the center of the bounds.

the main important Item would be to have the Forest an open area for any group, since it would most likely be one of the most interesting areas to enter.

Side recommendations would be to have the Trees climb-swep able, maybe have small platforms that we could put to use, have the desert have a small canyon of sorts (for of a depression) the tundra may be very hillish and have the OH SO IMPORTANT forerunner base (a homage to the old snow map), and the mountain, may have a climbable incline to the top, or a sheer face to climb swep to the top for an overlook of the map.

The last bit would be to use the sky, since we'd have all that empty space. An SoS ship for them to chill on (with grav lift or something) and a unsc ship for naval and ODSTs would also be nice. The ship could have a hangar bay large enough for pelicans so that when we deploy on events, the airforce have somewhere to fly to.
(if SoS had a ship, they probably wouldnt need a ground base then, so that also frees up that)

The ship could have its own power and engine room like that of the station we are on now, so that naval engineers have someplace to work, and the base itself could have its own Separate engine room for power in the base to be able to be cut off.

I Would DEFINITELY recommend porting over the CQB room from our current map, as it sees a lot of use

Just some ideas.
[doublepost=1535567079,1535566860][/doublepost]To add on, Firebases in each region would be good for training, whether that be in the form of a 'nuke town' of sorts in one of the biomes, tree forts in a forest, derelict ruins in the tundra, or [INFORMATION REDACTED] in the oni area, it could all be fun and games.

I would recommend that when the base is put in, the council can divvy up who takes and shares what.

We could bring back charlie and alpha from the old map.

If you guys would like, I can make a google drawing like I did for the CQB room that is currently on the space station (current map) for a rough idea of what it may be like @William @KingHarsh

I don't it would be good to have multiple biomes unless it was specifically for training reasons. The reason I say this is because then everytime you went to a new biome you would need to change your camo which I think most people forget about. Just a thought.

I dont think something as simple as changing skin should prevent a versatile use of a map in both training and events, especially since we dont even have camos to support different off map events in biomes. the camo is not an issue. mechanically, it doesnt even provide an advantage to do so.

If anything, multi-biomes make the water and urban camouflage's for marines more practical .

Forest for sure, allows for easy setup for ambush training.

Mountains would be a nice touch too, gives a sight line cut that can boost fps and give a good vantage point at the same time.

I think if we are going to do multiple biomes it needs to make since like snow part of Biome is on top of the mountain where there is a base up there. Now I think if we are to do a base i think we should some thing like halo wars type of theme type of base.Naval should have their own ship that they can walk through with a reactor room,hanger,bridge... ect. If we are going to do a planet we should have the base be in the grass lands with a river delta going through it .we could also add Defence turrets to the place like halo wars.

Well its also the issue of that would be a huge map and I dont think they would want to pay a lot for a four biome map. Also we would still switch maps for events otherwise the GM's would be limited in their event ideas. So yeah it would be convenient but just not necessary.

it'd be no larger than our current map, which is quite big with a lot of unused space. (heh literally)

it would be practical for a multitude of on map uses and training for any sort of maps we've played on before. at some point later we can have our name slapped on it and even market it to other servers if we really wanted to, its something that hasnt really been done.

If we are going to be putting in for a map, the cost is gonna be big regardless of what we request. if we get all the functions we want in the first go, we dont have to worry about paying for renditions later like we have for the space station (v1-v4).

With multiple biomes, there is no cut-and-paste wasted space, there is something different no matter where you go, which is something truly unique.

imagine for a second that we have a mono-biome map, lets say "snow". lets see community opinion on a mono-biome snow map.
now, what would make a desert any different? a forest might look cool, but if you cant climb trees whats the point? a single mountain map has been used for events, the gm_lair isn't quite practical.

People will become bored regardless, but with multiple biomes, each with their own draw, it will happen much slower with a large selection of activities to do out of events. Check out a small desert town, Patrol through thick jungle, Brave the wastes of the ice, climb a mountain and overlook the rest.

Each area doesnt have to be its own mini map, we could do it in the space smaller than something like bigcity, gm_redemption, or one of the TFG redone maps.
[doublepost=1535574060,1535573497][/doublepost]imagine if you will, the old snow map. the area around charlie base is set to a desert theme, alpha base would be forested when you crest the hill. the area by Beta rises to an incline with an entrance built into the side and Forerunner would remain a frosted tundra.

The map would be the same size, however we now have some difference in it. now we start to paint detail Charlie becomes a small town of single story and one double story buildings, tight alleys, and a main street and one out of place 'observation nest' for drill instructors to use. Alpha's trees are a bit more square, but have platforms perfect for climbswep and for setting up ambushes. The mountain has some trees before going to a tundra esc mountain, or might have lava flows helping seal in the KOS area. Forerunner may have small single room caves built into the hill behind it.

There was PLENTY of room under the snow to build, it was a shell put over a flat plane of ice.

We may place ship or two in the atmosphere.


The map is essentially the same space, however we changed some color of the landscape and effectively added holes and trees.
There was so much wasted space inaccessible by the snow, space we could put to use.

Its really not that crazy of an idea, and it would definitely be more sustainable. the last two maps we've had have been one unchanging environment.

We could have a mono biome base for a planet, but maybe in a large simulation room, different from the CQB, it can have multiple biomes over a large area and can allow for environmental and situational training for all players.

Id personally like way less trees. and a larger atmosphere cause I've flew into other ships while trying to leave the planet before

Get the assets of the snow map and turn it into a bad ass forest map. Always loved those ONI laps and Trecking to Alpha for briefing.
