The bugs!

Brief

So one of our outer colonies has gone dark, Insurrectionists and Covenant remnants have been ruled out due to there was no ships detected in the area.

All we got from the Colony that we are currently going to was a panic button was hit.

This means that there is a strong possibility of some sort of ambushes as they weren't able to send a message in the time they had left.

The colony that we are currently going to investigate had a population of about 200 civilians, about 50 marines and about 40 children.

Our tasking goes as this, We are to ship out and troops will be divided like this

Pilots will be in the air searching for Survivors

Medics will be split up among marine squads to help increase survival rate of any survivors that are found.

O.D.S.T’s will be dropping, but to help the search they will be dropped at different locations to help locate survivors.

Oni personnel are to go to where the panic button was hit and see if they can harvest any records or videos of what happened.

Marines will be going out and making patrols and sweeps to help locate the missing.

SoS and HoJ will be dispatched to try and find what caused the events here. Looking for leads about what happened out on the field.

Navel will set up a FOB for communications with us, and other troops. This FOB will also double as a medical camp to help the wounded, if there are any.

We ask that SoS and HoJ try not to engage or get in the sight of any survivors due to the fact that they may panic or attack them.

GM part

Let them explore for a bit, have the old colony’s base have bodys around it, no signs of cov or inserect activity, find a couple of survivors and they will cry and talk about their partner or kids and have one crazy one that will talk about having things crawling all over him.

After they are able to regroup, possibly, Then spawn in alien swarm enemies, Have about five parasites spawn from crazy guy, spawn groups of rangers with mortar bugs. Have rogue players get attacked by parasites. Evac will be ordered by base plate as more bugs emerge and pour out.

Jetpacks will be limited

Why would jetpacks be limited, is my question. Doesn't seem to make sense thematically. The other event you did it kind of made sense for the purposes of stealth. It doesn't seem to fit the theme here.

Also you spelled "Naval" as "Navel" which is a belly button, so I find that amusing.

Just for narrative's sake, mentioning that small colonies like this are what drive humanity, and that is why we're sending the force there. Many times, from a player's perspective, I hear a lot of people asking "why are we here anyway?" So reminding people that safeguarding the colonies is one of the most important tasks the UNSC can undertake might be useful and get people more invested.

Giving the colony a name, would be neat too. Doesn't even have to be anything fancy, but it helps to have a name to put to a place rather than "that colony we're going to"

"Our tasking goes as this, We are to ship out and troops will be divided like this" Is an awkward sentence, at least the first half.
"Regimental tasking will be as follows:" would flow better. That way you can drop the 'we are to ship out troops...' part.

I'm not an expert on ODST deployments, but if the colony is potentially full of civilian survivors is dropping them in pods necessary or even a good idea? Seems like deployment by Pelican or other forms of troop transport would make more sense given the situation.

I am probably just being hyper-critical so take all this with a grain of salt.

Thanks for your input, So what im currently thinking is between maps I should use, I may take off odst drops and I could think of a name for the colony and stress that humanity doesn't have a huge population left. And for stealth we don't know what the hell went on down there, so the point of the small amounts of stealth is so we don't run in and trip on a hornet's nest. And the wording is just a minor thing. Do you have anyother ideas on what I should put in? and when it comes to jet packs Its a rp thing, no flying across the map.

Use the map that i did, or just use a destroyed city map.

I would reccomend downloading the maps from the the content pack and just exploring them in single player some so you could have some genuinely interesting places outside of the main 6 or so we use (glycen city, lunar base, truth and Rec, Destroyed city, EMP arid, etc)

when I get home i'll check some maps and shoot a recommendation (wanna make sure I get the name right if you want a cool, more rual snow place)

if you are looking for a good city setting, I recommend Big Metropoly. just make sure players have it downloaded beforehand.

The two im debating between is the Emp arid with the large bridge and bunkers or Using the Snow city place that has buildings you can enter. But "

" as I call it has a tiny tiny sky box, It ends at the top of the tallest building, But the arid place has almost to no buildings that I could put as a colony. I would make buildings but that's not my fortay.
