Character's Backstory:

Kaar'ig nar Shellen was Born on the Migrant Liveship Shellen in 2152 CE to Tah'lia Vas Shellen, a prominent member of the Shellen's political conclave, and her bondmate, Jur'ig Vas Shellen nar Iktomi, a former marine and reknowned engineer. Growing up, both parents were busy, often leaving him with a caregiver until one or the other were done their duties for the day.

Despite both parents having respectable jobs, their relationship had frayed over the years and eventually Tah'lia left her bondmate in 2161 citing "irreconsilable differences". Because of this, his relationship with his mother is fragmented at best.

Jur'ig took custody of young Kaar'ig , as the bond of father and son was a lot closer than he was to his mother. Kaar'ig would often ask to hear 'stories' from his father, hearing about his father's past accolades as well as learning a fair bit from his father's work. He was so fascinated about what his dad did for a living, that once he was twelve he became his father's apprentice, and eventually transferred to the Qwib Qwib, where both he and his father continued to live well until Kaar'ig became of age in 2168 for his pilgrimage.

Like most Quarians, his pilgrimage began on Omega. Soon after arriving there however, he was fairly scrutinized by many races, just because of his heritage alone. He did his best to keep out of trouble by taking up a job in the market district as a engineering consultant, learning about the vessels that often docked and requested ship upgrades. The only thing he would refuse to upgrade were weapons systems, as something like that would fall under the jurisdiction of the Blue Suns.

He continued to do business on Omega, occasionally returning to the Qwib Quib to visit his father, bringing him a gift each time he visited.

It wouldn't be until the Omega Gang Wars in 2185 that he thought it best to leave Omega altogether out of safety, and returned to the Shellen after 24 years, now an adult himself. During this time, his mother tries to reconcile with him, regretting some of the decisions she made when she was younger. Kaar'ig was still bitter about how she just 'abandoned' him and his father, all because of her needs, not their needs. This left her distrought, and a month later, she died due to a malfunction with her envirosuit. Rumors on the Liveship said she may have ended her own life, but no one can truly say.

As 2186 approached, the 'supposed' threat of the Reapers was now all too real. Others returned home to fight the good fight, where as others decided to offer their skills to others. It was through this that Kaar'ig decided to help in his own way by signing up for a Project called 'New Eden', hoping that he could assist with his knowledge and quick-thinking when it came to keeping things running smoothly.

What is your characters goal aboard the ship? Why were they hired by New Eden?:

Kaar'ig's goal on the ship is to help keep the vessel, well... ship-shape, maybe even more so. Not only this, but with his mother dead, and his father on Rannoch assisting with the recolonization... He felt this for him, this was his true pilgrimage all along. His calling, so to speak.
