Why you should be unbanned:
Resolved: I affirm the resolution that Ethan should be unbanned from Revival server's halo RP. I provide the following definitions:
Favoritism - The showing of special favor or partiality (Merriam Webster)
Contention I - The ban was unjust and bias; History
It's well known that the majority of the server, with the exception of the many who are amused by my mild humor and the others who my money lines their pockets, are not the biggest fans of me. This includes some of the admins of the server. In this server's information area, staff rules, rule 4 it states "Favoritism is prohibited." Halon, the admin who banned me after being advised by Helios, both with having a history of quarrel with me clearly show favoritism. Before I get into that issue, here is a brief history of what happened. About 2 weeks ago, I rejoined the server after informing some people I would be gone for 2+ months due to work complications. Knowing that many of the people there aren't the biggest fans of me, I decided to try and keep my head down and not cause trouble. Things were calm until a prowler who remembered me asked to have some fun. I obliged and spawned a chair that we put no grav on. I realize that it wasn't the best move on my part knowing my situation and I was warned because of it. I apologized and went on with being serious. I apologized for the mistake and got back into that rp mood the server tries to enforce. Throughout the time I spent on the server that same fellow prowler minged, a lot. And this was all around me. After telling him to keep composure, he didn't listen and this caused some issues. I won't go into detail about the things he did but my point is I did not participate in his actions and words. An admin comes to me after getting reports of things happening, he assumes I am causing the trouble and proceeds to yell at me. The other people in the same area as I was at the time quickly tell him that I haven't been causing any trouble and eventually things calmed down. I continue to tell stories of the server's past. All is well. Then my previous ranks and duties are brought up by that same prowler I mentioned. My previous role of Hazmat lead is among one of the mentioned ranks. Overhearing this the new hazmat lead came down with a pretentious attitude saying "Things have changed, I'm hazmat lead fuck off and stop saying that you are". I respond "Oh congrats on the role, I'm not going to change my name since the role isn't in my name but is on my pac. I'll fix that in time. The prowler continued to announce my arrival when moving place to place not excluding hazmat when he announced me. Not long after I was then teleported to the texas where Halon, the prowler and the new Haz lead were waiting. He began by starting to explain what was wrong and I tried to clarify what happened along with the other prowler but halon proceeded to angerly and rudely shut both of us up. After my 2nd interjection to try and clarify something that was quite wrong with the story that was being presented I was muted. During this time I was continuously yelled at with not being able to clarify my end of the story. Some exciting quotes of that evening (I should mention it's 2:30am while this is happening) are "Shut the fuck up I know you've been banned 2 times" (I've been banned once and I already dealt with that situation, I was unable to refute this due to being silenced), "You shouldn't have even come back to the server", "All you've been doing since you got back is ERP" and much more! All of this was told to me and I was unable to refute any of the accusations since I was muted. The admin acted pretentious through the continuation of the discussion acting as if he was almighty by saying things like "You listen to me...", "You better do what I say with no rebuttal " and much more! Eventually the prowler convinced the admin to let me talk and I began to state my case. The admin quickly got very defensive and clearly leaned to defend everything the current haz leader was saying as true even though he was not present for the happenings and several people were supporting my case. This prolonged and I eventually told the man to calm down after he was yelling quite loudly, constantly refuting me and etc. I understand it is late at night and that he is not a fan of me but this was still quite harsh and in my opinion unacceptable actions for a high ranking administrator of a server. He should have listened to my arguments without bias, without interruptions as he so clearly let the accuser do, he should have let me speak in general, and lastly he should have acted without intense impression of emotion and listened to solid reasoning. After this prolonged for about 40 minutes I told him that I had to go as I had business matters to attend to. He continued talking disregarding what I said. I eventually said it a bit louder. He then listened. I told him, "Okay look I'm sorry for this whole situation. I'll just make things easy. I need to get off now so here is what I'll do. I'll change my rank, I'll get HAZ off my pac and do everything you want. And if you need to discuss this more I'll get on tomorrow and we can talk" I await his response and he says that that's fine. I additionally was told "NIGHT NIGHT" by the prowler. I then leave. I attempt to go on the next day and was greeted with a ban message saying I was banned for 9 weeks. It's now been about 2 weeks which I feel is more than fair of a punishment for the little I did when I re-joined the server and hope to be unbanned because I was unjustly banned. Halon clearly showed bias towards his presumed friend and showed favoritism in his words throughout the conversation. This is clearly displayed in the time he allowed him to speak, the disregard for my defenses and the quick silencing of anyone trying to defend my actions. He let his emotions interfere with his decision and banned me for leaving during an admin sit even though he said it was fine to do so. He banned me for mingery which was dealt with when I was warned earlier. With the provided definition of favoritism it is very clear to see that he displayed it throughout the argument and let it affect his decision to ban me along with his disliking for me. An admin should look at a situation justly and not based off of like or dislike for a person similar to a judge. It's labeled in the admin's instructions that this website says they must abide by. One last note to complete this contention, it should be noted that his decision was only made much after the fact and the sit when Helios told him that he should ban me for leaving the sit. This along with other people who were displeased with my return said the same to him and this was the deciding factor that made him ban me. He was influenced my others.
Contention 2 - My case
This contention will go into detail on what I was attempting to say but wasn't able to. I will go in order of what he accused me of. Firstly, he accused me of my Haz leader rank which was long time ago given to me by the previous leader. He, the admin, kept saying to me that things change in the server and the role is now someone else's. He told me that I should not be announcing that I am the rank. I attempted to speak to him saying that it was not me announcing that I am Haz leader but it was the prowler who was with me announcing it. I even told the new leader I was okay with him being the new leader. But, he refused to listen to me saying that and believe that. He proceeded to mute me. He wouldn't let me contend the argument. I never announced that and I even attempted to resolve the situation with the new leader. This was why I was even brought into a sit in the first place and I wasn't even able to argue that I wasn't the one saying I was the leader. He kept saying things like "I know this happened don't you dare say otherwise" even when the prowler contended saying he's the one who was saying it, this was quickly refuted with "no you didn't say that". The admin wasn't even present at any of the times he announced it and is another display of his favoritism to his friend, and disliking for me. This was a common theme across the entire argument, (or speech I should say since I wasn't even able to defend myself). I won't make this any longer than it needs to be with quoted examples. But I tried to defend myself in saying that my minging was already dealt with, that I was sorry for it and for the past hour didn't do it anything of the sort, and much more. Most of his accusations were based on things that didn't happen, didn't happen as he was reciting them and my case was never heard. So I'll defend it now. I didn't minge any more after I was told not to and I am sorry for the mingery that did happen. I am okay with the rank being passed on to someone else and am sorry there was a complication. I did not continue to say I was haz leader after we talked. I understand the server is not the largest fan of me but I think they should still listen to reason and arguments of the defender. I am fine with any other rank complications that come up due to me announcing I was going to be gone for a while and then being gone. I don't mind moving down as a result of my lack of presence due to work issues. I understand people don't like me for what I have done previously. But when I am on from now on I intend to act seriously and embody what the server wishes of it's player base. I hope that the people who dislike me in the revival community can get past their differences with me and move on.
Conclusion
The admin Halon acted out of pure emotion during this sit. It was late and with his prior dislike towards me, favoritism to the accuser brought into the situation, it's easy to see how the sit resulted in an incorrect decision. I was not listened to, I was wrongly accused and even though the man who carried out the punishment isn't a fan of me. I don't believe that to be an excuse for not listening to me and breaking staff code. I hope my ban is repealed, I waited what I feel to be a more than reasonable time for the little mingery I did when back. Lastly, if this ban is repealed I will try to embody what this server expects of it's player base. I understand I haven't been everyone's favorite in the past but I hope we can move on from that. I was already punished for my bad actions of long ago and have not acted as I did that day since. What I did in the past shouldn't dictate what I am being punished for now. This is a separate issue. I won't be on as frequently as I was in the past. But, when I am on I will act more as the server expects of it's players as to try and promote a better community. I am sorry for this dispute and previous ones but hopefully we can reach a reasonable conclusion and unban me. Thank's for your patience and understanding of this issue.
