(Barnaby keeps a journal. These are random journal entries over Barnaby's life, though these excerpts are specifically pulled out and placed here when they write about Barnaby's implants- because simply I think augmented humans are cool.)

Dec 2186:
I was just enlisted into the crew of the Eden. I currently am waiting for my medical equipment I am bringing with me to arrive, and my certificates to be validated by the management's recruiting branch. I already know I was hired to be a surgeon on-board, and that makes me quite anxious as I am aware that my studying and practice has been primarily human based. I am confident I can adapt, though, with more research. I am very happy to have been persuaded by my friends at university to dip into my funds to get this neural implant. It was very much like getting a tattoo for me, I was scared I would regret it- and I still may in the future- along with giddy with excitement. I went to the implant office and applied for a implant to support my eye to hand coordination. Considering it was my first implant, they also had to place a electronic box in the back of my neck to administrate my augment, and future ones. Now that I have it, I feel so improved. That feeling you get when you look back on your unfit self a few years ago, and how you look now- that's how I feel in the matter of days of surgery. I can hold steady hands even in the worst of situations and rarely feel exhaustion in my arms, despite the workload.

Feb 2187: The entire time since I have gotten this neural implant for my hand eye coordination, it has been simply great and I am so grateful for what science can do for someone like me. Although, I do not think my friend group is as grateful as I am. It is absolutely amazing what augments can do, yet they seem greedy for more. The chat we use, is simply filled to the brim about this new implant on the market where an finger is replaced for a tiny capsule container. They all live on the citadel or populous cities, so they brag about how it may save their belongings from a mugging or already have in a case or two. Jonathan has mentioned his mugger never checked his finger, even when he jokingly said "pull my finger". I have went to the implant office at the Citadel when we landed there for 'shore-leave'. I replaced my left middle finger, what I considered the least useful finger on my left hand, with it. It is big enough for me to store a 2TB USB drive and my pay-stub inside of. It's pretty cool, I guess, and rather convenient. It's a little weird to have a metal middle finger.

I'm scared that if I get biologically EMP'd, that it may stick up and constantly give the bird.

Feb 2187: I found myself meeting a blackmarket dealer upon the ship one evening, out of pure randomness I could only assume this event occured. It was fine for me, as I was comfortable around illegal dealers and always wanting to look at what random items they have. I went to meet them, and to my surprise it was a small woman with a horrid leg wound that made me offer my help; but, she ultimately denied. A depressing woman, which made me wonder what made her get into the business and why none of her profit was used to live better. I was generally asking to look at all the illegal implants out of pure awe for augments; but, as there was a line behind me I simply asked what kind of medical implants she had. A omni-tool that was made by Logic Arrest, well known for their medical capabilities, for a modest thirty thousand. It wasn't a staggering amount so I had to take the deal. I had fun setting it up, as if I have gotten a new toy as a child.
