(Barnaby keeps a journal. These are random journal entries over Barnaby's life, though these excerpts are specifically pulled out and placed here when they write about Barnaby's implants- because simply I think augmented humans are cool.)
Dec 2186: I was just enlisted into the crew of the Eden. I currently am waiting for my medical equipment I am bringing with me to arrive, and my certificates to be validated by the management's recruiting branch. I already know I was hired to be a surgeon on-board, and that makes me quite anxious as I am aware that my studying and practice has been primarily human based. I am confident I can adapt, though, with more research. I am very happy to have been persuaded by my friends at university to dip into my funds to get this neural implant. It was very much like getting a tattoo for me, I was scared I would regret it- and I still may in the future- along with giddy with excitement. I went to the implant office and applied for a implant to support my eye to hand coordination. Considering it was my first implant, they also had to place a electronic box in the back of my neck to administrate my augment, and future ones. Now that I have it, I feel so improved. That feeling you get when you look back on your unfit self a few years ago, and how you look now- that's how I feel in the matter of days of surgery. I can hold steady hands even in the worst of situations and rarely feel exhaustion in my arms, despite the workload.
