Hello ladies and gentlemen of the medstaff!

I apologize for the small novel, I just wanted to clarify a few points and keep people informed. Get out the reading glasses and prepare yourselves!

First and foremost I would like to congratulate each and every one of you for your outstanding work in the medical field here on the Halo Revival RP server. Through active participation, involvement, and perhaps most importantly, leadership/mentoring our junior members we have grown and developed as a "RP organization".

We are the largest so far by a fair degree, and this is due to the incredible persistence and vigilance of our junior leadership in hosting "Combat Medic Courses" and guiding our members and staff through medical RP. I am very, very pleased and as always actively encourage each and every one of you to keep up the outstanding work, I am very proud. Well done!

Below is the updated format for medical rank structure and organizational responsibilities. I know this has been SOP for a long time as the MEDS, CMEDO, and CMEDS folks know, but I thought it might be helpful to put it all here in hard copy!

Who can join? Anyone! Unfortunately, SOS and HOJ cannot become members of the human medical team however, we encourage involvement at the very least having them as passive participants in medical training and events. The medical field is one of inclusion and a positive environment for learning and having fun.

A few Administrative Points!

1. Medical RP is an important part of the server, everyone should feel included and welcome. We all encourage participation and involvement! As a side note, please take it easy on our newer folks in medical staff, they are here to be involved in the server, and intentionally overwhelming them or blasting them for not knowing certain things is not fair. We are all here to have fun and be involved! Think if you were in their shoes!

2. I actively encourage all members to take an active leadership role in leading medical RP events and training. Leading and mentoring the new members of our server helps to foster a sense of belonging and inspires them to stay and participate. The more people the merrier!

3. Rank is irrelevant. This may seem like a very peculiar point, however, even withing a military context, the job of the medical field is to preserve life, and having in-game organizations or individuals below the senior staff "ordering" medical members to kill a patient or doing questionable or unethical things to a patient or other member of the staff is not in the "role-playing" spirit and is not to be allowed. Be reasonable and responsible! If the person doing this persists, address it with them, and then contact an admin. Abuse of members or characters in an "out of character" or "in character" sense is not allowed.

4. Making long-winded private medical events may be fun to some, but really does wear out the medical staff. Being an MED+ means you can be involved in medical role play but not necessarily doing it full-time! Once again, people are here to have fun, be reasonable when presenting them medical role play scenarios!

5. Phew, the final point (for now!). Medical promotions can take place on any day, anytime. Medical staff at the MEDS+ level are encouraged to actively promote, train, and teach our members. Please be aware of who you are promoting, why, and what they contribute to medical RP. One cool event and giving someone a promotion isn't very fair to people who are consistent and involved over the long-run.

1. MED (Combat Medic) (Numbers: Unlimited)

Rank: Any

Requirements: Completion of basic combat medic course by MEDO or higher (or an MED with MEDO or higher permission)

Responsibilities: Conduct of combat medical treatment, assisting MEDO + in medical bay, OR take on an operation if other senior members are not around. The philosophy behind this is building player involvement and building confidence and competence in our junior members.

2. MEDO (Medical Officer)

Rank: Any (preference for LCPL +)

Requirements: Completion of MEDO course and involvement in server medical RP in events or passive RP OR referral by MEDS+. IRL knowledge is considered an asset to MEDS appointments.

Responsibilities: Mentoring of junior members, passing on knowledge/skills, guiding and leading operations/surgeries, and of course conducting Combat Medic Courses (as seen below):

COMBAT MEDIC COURSE:

Phase 1: Basic Intro to Combat Medics (roles, responsibilities, prioritize injury over rank, treatment of enemies as well as friendlies).

Phase 2: Show how the Medkit, Defib, and Bacta Injector (biofoam) are used.

Phase 3: Basic RP, explain rank structure, how to advance, and encourage questions and involvement.

3. MEDS (Medical Scientist)

Rank: Any (preference for CPL +)

Requirements: Completion of MEDO course and displays a high level of aptitude in medical matters, and medical RP involvement both in operation and/or with the community as a whole.

Responsibilities: Middle-level leadership position, can promote up to the rank of MEDO, supervises courses, ensure they adhere to the standard format, assesses MEDO aptitude and skills both in teaching/leading, and in medical RP. Work in medical science related RP (very, very flexible and much is up to the imagination, be reasonable, yet creative during events!) Teaches Combat Medic and MEDO course.

MEDO COURSE:

Phase 1. Principles of First Aid

Phase 2. CPR and AED/defib

Phase 3. Airway, Breathing, Circulation checks

Phase 4. Treating bleeding wounds, internal injuries, disinfecting injuries

(HINT: Most of all of this information can be referenced online through the St. John's Ambulance for those who are interested or do not have any background, look it up, it is great stuff!)

4. CMEDO (Chief Medical Officer)

Rank: SGT equivalent (and above)

Requirements: Good leadership, representation, and active participant in hosting and supervising courses. Mentoring junior members and a high standard of professionalism are very important at this more senior position.

Responsibilities: Can promote up to the rank of MEDS, can host ALL courses, can supervise ALL courses, makes referrals to CMEDS and Doctor to change and adapt training to meet new needs or requirements. Mentors, leads and supervises junior members. Is an agent in fostering a positive environment in med field and promote retention of personnel.

5. CMEDS (Chief Medical Scientist)

Rank: SSGT equivalent (and above)

Requirements: Good leadership, representation, and active participant in hosting and supervising courses. Mentoring junior members and a high standard of professionalism are very important at this more senior position. A solid understanding of medical RP and medical knowledge are a major asset to these members.

Responsibilities: Second in command of the medical field. Promote up to the rank of CMEDO, manages personnel, numbers, promotions at all levels, teaches and supervises courses at all levels, much in a similar fashion as the CMEDO but at a more senior level.

6. Doctor (The Poor Fool/Fools In Charge of it All)

At this point I am certain you know where this all leads. The doctor is in charge of medical personnel as a whole. It is not a one-man show, not in the slightest. The success of the organization is due to the members and junior leaders that make it a success.

Well, I hope this helped clarify a few points. As always, this information is open to change and my CMEDO, and CMEDS folks are free to open up the floor and bring up and openly change things once we have all had a chance to discuss it. The medical field is still growing and the number of medical RP events and member involvement has grown too. Very well done folks!
