Character's backstory [edited] : Seiji, Senoquol; the birthing grounds of Lamali Chelie. Senoquol’s populace was built on the military industrial complex. Its economy depended heavily on its supply of weapons, armor and warships to sustain itself. Consequently, most of the salarian population either ended up working in manufacturing or serving as infantry for their government.
Born in 2165, Chelie was a ruffian. Growing up he could maintain his grades; he wasn’t an idiot, but he couldn’t hold a candle to the intellect his brothers possessed. Instead, he focused his energies on building a reputation as the salarian whose good side you wanted to be on. He could throw a punch to knock out an asari, and was never afraid of the repercussions felt at authority’s hands. This got him in plenty of trouble, but that turned into a sort of mark of pride for the young salarian.
He became very noble and proud. He was confident in his abilities and with a history of successful conflict resolution in the form of hitting people really really hard, no one could blame him. Chelie was, and continues to be, a fast learner, with a sharp tongue and a sly gaze that can usually spot a lie a mile away. Dutiful and thorough, Chelie often refused to put down tasks for days until he was sure his job has been completed to his full capability.
Because of his pride, sometimes Chelie fell into the trap of being goaded into making mistakes. Most of the time this happened at the hands of his brother. His confidence has lead him astray plenty of times; he was generally unwilling to accept that he was wrong about something even when presented with evidence right in front of him.
It took awhile, but eventually Chelie realized that a mutually beneficial relationship could result if he partnered with his mechanically-inclined brother. In due course, Irtaw rode on the back of Chelie's reputation gaining access to more and more materials to create his wild new inventions. Chelie, then, was rewarded new, powerful weapons to test on (mostly suspecting) peers. The brothers were never fully recognized for their talents until they turned 14 and chose their career paths.
The pair enrolled in the military; Chelie choosing the simplest path of the infantry unit, and Irtaw going into weapons research. With their admirable talents displayed during their youth, they might have been assigned more prestegious positions on the salarian’s Third Fleet; however, Chelie’s history of fights raised mild concern among his higher-ups. He was assigned guard duty on transport ships, carrying delicate cargo to and from the Third Fleet.
Well, until the opportunity to join New Eden arrived, that is...
What is your character's goal aboard the ship? Why were they hired by New Eden? [edited] : Chelie doesn't want to be stuck on transport ships for the rest of his life. He wants real action and drama, and he’s going to take any opportunity he can get.
