Welcome Future Developers!
As the title may suggest, we are looking to expand our mapping team. As of this point in time I am currently the only Mapper (if you don't include freelancers). I will be hosting these sessions every Sunday at 2pm-5pm EST (Location will be My TeamSpeak room on the TS and my room will be closed at 2:30pm). These sessions will consist of me covering the following essentials a Garry's Mod Map Developer should understand.
Topics:
-The Software
-How to construct a map from scratch
-Custom textures and props (I will not cover how to make custom props as that is a separate course in it self)
-Uploading the to workshop (This will be my technique)
-Analysis of maps (Optional but it comes in handy when performing edits)
-How to make a map look more environmental and immersive
-Interior Detail
-Exterior Detail
And other small topics. These sessions are FREE however upon completing this course I would highly recommend you sign up for developer as this is what is intended.
If you wish to partake in my sessions to train how to be a dev, you must have the requirements as followed:
-Must be willing to learn
-Must be willing to do SOME homework
-Must be willing to research
-Must be Patient
-Must know a rough idea of level structure (I cover this if you do not meet this option)
-Must have Kik and Dropbox
The sessions I will be hosting are going to be split into three parts. Theory (This will take at most 20 minutes), Physical (Actually making the map) and Q's and A's (Any questions you may have before the lesson ends. I hope to see many volunteers for this course.
How the course will work: I will be setting you occasionally some homework (Don't worry, it will be physical homework) and this homework is optional however I am going to grade you and write up a statement to place on your developer application. This course is a must try for wanna be developers!
Now, Before you wish to join into this course, I wish you have respect for the players in the room and allow me to speak when I need to. For the time being I will have permission to speak OFF but if I have to shout or I get annoyed due to people butting in or being rude, I will turn permission to speak on and also- My Team speak room rules will still apply to Trainee mappers...
Sincerely - Senior Developer (Modeler and Mapper) Hawk
