I have never been staff on a GMOD server before. I may need a bit of training or some time to get into the swing of things.

I am currently enrolled in my first Senior semester at my university in Connecticut. I am studying how to become an effective Secondary History educator, so teaching History and learning about the subject matter is one of my biggest passions. Alongside that passion is gaming, of course. I'm trying to become staff so I can help this server grow meaningfully. I want to have fun on the server, but I also want to facilitate fun for other people. I want to be able to solve issues and disputes so that people that would aim to ruin other peoples' fun are punished and those looking to enjoy the server can do so without being harassed.

Current game time unknown, probably close to 9-10 days. I have been on the server for about 2 months.

As I said before, I have not yet had the experience of staffing for a GMOD server. Recently, my schedule has cleared enough so that I can meaningfully act as a staff whereas before I was always busy throughout the week.

I can be active on the server about 4-5 days a week for a few hours each day. My availability extends to nighttime on 2-3 of those days.

Explain why you're a better candidate than other candidates (75+ words, No Less):
I've had quite a few life experiences that set me apart from other candidates and offer me a few advantages over them. Being in the program I am in at my University, I have had to deal with a number of difficult individuals and have been responsible for appropriately and professionally handling the grievances they have. As a future educator, I am required to maintain a standard of absolute professionalism or suffer a potential fate of losing access to my program. That means that I have been watched closely for the entirety of my college career, leading to me being an exceptionally level-headed and calm individual. Difficult, temperamental, or otherwise hostile individuals do not cloud my judgment, which is a boon when it comes to moderating. Aside from that, I have been able to study a small bit of psychology as part of my educational training and I am able to empathize with people in a way that is conducive to closing an admin sit quickly and effectively.
How do you plan to benefit the server? (60+ words, No Less):
One problem I see with the server is the lack of moderators active during the early afternoon hours. I believe this to be due to work/school commitments tying them up. I am thankful that my current schedule has me available during these hours. I would be able to be present to maintain the server rules during these hours when so few administrators or moderators are active.
Explain why you stand out from others (50+ words, No Less):
I believe I have already touched upon how I stand out from others in my previous responses, but to reiterate, I am not only looking to help people on the server, but I have been somewhat trained to handle people already by my college experiences. Aside from that, I am disinterested in power for power's sake. I am looking to utilize mod powers to help people, not for preferential treatment or access to commands.

4. !hp: Sets the level of hp of a player to a specified amount.

Minging is generally acting annoying for the purposes of annoying others. It is closely related to FailRP and trolling, but can extend farther and include more instances than those two. Any act purposefully executed to break the immersion or deteriorate other peoples' fun can be considered minging.
Give one example of how you would deal with minging as staff(Give a situation in detail):
One example of minging could be a group of Marines sitting on each other's heads and walking down the halls. This is minging because it completely destroys the immersion of anyone patrolling those halls. In this situation, I would first give an informal, unwritten warning to stop sitting on each other's heads. If they comply, then no further action would be taken. If they do not, or if I see that they only stopped for a brief moment and then resumed, I would issue a formal warning using ULX commands. If this continued, I would kick the player(s) in question and if they returned to continue this behavior, I would ban them for 1 day.
Explain what FailRP is in detail:
FailRP is the act of not roleplaying realistically to how a character should when put in a specific situation. It, like minging, tends to break immersion.
Give one example and how you would deal with it As Staff(Give a Situation in Detail):
One example of FailRP is a character talking IC about things their character would never know about. A Z11 Marine would never know about Section 0 of ONI or about the augmentation process of SPARTANs, for example. Similarly, they would never know that SPARTANs can die, as ONI does a very good job of spreading propaganda that states that SPARTANs are unkillable. In this situation, I would ask if the Marine was talking IC or OOC. If they say IC, I would tell them OOC that they wouldn't know about that, and tell them to stop talking IC about those things. If they continued, I would warn them informally that this constitutes as FailRP and that I may have to formally warn them if they continue. I would continue with a formal warning, a kick, and/or a ban if they continued.

RDM is Random Death Match. It occurs when a player kills another player for no reason and with no context.

During a briefing, a Marine stands up, pulls out his BR, and shoots the briefer. In this situation, I would immediately kick the player for blatant RDM. If they attempted to kill more than one person, I would ban them for 1 week for attempted mass RDM.

Trolling is often defined as behavior or speech that is meant to agitate, annoy, or disrupt the server or other players. It is done purposefully to entertain the troller, who takes great joy in the annoyance they cause.

A common example of trolling is micspam/earrape. Often times this is done sparingly, as constant micspam is easily detected, so they try to surprise their potential victims. If I witnessed this, I would immediately issue a formal warning and demand they stop earraping or micspamming. If they did not, I would kick them, and further problems would lead to a 1 day/3 day/ 7 day ban.

Explain what OOC and IC is(Give a situation in detail):
OOC:
Out-of-Character. Often times when there is little going on in station, people will talk OOC to pass time. In OOC, you are not a SPARTAN, Freelancer, Marine, or Army personnel, you are a man or woman playing GMOD. People tend to talk in OOC in TS, socializing with their friends and talking about personal stories.
IC:
In-Character. When talking/acting IC, you must act as your SPARTAN, Freelancer, Marine, etc. would. If your character is a hard-assed Marine Sergeant, then you should act as such, even if you personally are not. Similarly, as previously stated, no matter how much you know about Halo lore OOC, you are restricted IC to knowledge your character would reasonable know.
What would you do if two people were fighting in OOC matters and it turned into IC matters (Give situation in detail):
No one wants to hear people fighting OOC or IC. We're all trying to have fun. If I saw people arguing about something in OOC, I would tell them to take it to TS or Steam and keep it out of the server logs. No one cares or wants to take part in unnecessary drama. If they did not or they took it to IC, I would have to intervene and mediate a solution. If two Marines fought OOC and it turned into an IC feud, then that's fine as long as no rules are being broken. That means: No disrespecting the other, no RDM, etc. If they are unable to understand that they cannot act like this or they are unable to seize this opportunity to establish a reasonable IC rivalry, then I will be forced to warn them and escalate punishment from there if they continue to incite drama.
