Are you currently staff on a different server? Are you willing to leave that staff position for the one you are applying for?

No.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Experience with staffing (ULX, other servers, etc.):

Not much. This will be my first time, in fact. So I will be learning as I go.

How active will you be on the server?

Well I’m currently in college, with mostly night classes. Monday and Tuesday are my only real busy days in meatspace.

Days/Hours Of Availability:

I am in the EST(GMT-5), and tend to stay up fairly late, but wake up around noon. Due to my situation being a college student, Mondays and Tuesdays are my only hard no-go days.

Explain why you're a better candidate than other candidates (75+ words):

With 10+ years of Roleplaying, DMing, and otherwise horrid fashions of nerdery under my belt I would like to say, with some level of confidence, that I know how to tell a story and play a believable character. I roll with the blows if PCs go down a different route I hadn’t anticipated, but for the most part I can predict eventualities and outcomes. Story building and plot-crafting is a passion of mine and I love inventing things, breathing life into seemingly innocuous characters, and then allowing the players to run with it in whatever fashion they see fit. Whether that is horribly murdering the poor thing, or saving it and creating lasting bonds.

How do you plan to benefit the server? (50+ words):

With seven years of military service to draw on, I bring experience and knowledge within the military organizational structure to provide more accurate and realistic force deployments and characters, know how to work effectively with others in ways that complement the strengths and make up for the weaknesses of my peers, and as I stated I bring years of roleplaying experience to draw on. I hope to bring more interactive, story-driven, believable events that get players invested in the outcome of the mission. I also wish to assist the GM team in providing fun and exciting events for players.

List (10) Ulx Commands and what they do(List something other than: cloak, ban,Kick,Warn,TP,Maul,Slay,Gag,):

!map – Changes map and can change game mode.

!spectate – Allows you to spectate a target player.

!armor – Allows you to give armor to target player.

@@@ – Sends a message to the middle of everyone’s screen. Can be used for thematic moments, or to help push a story along by delivering useful information.

!ignite – Sets target player(s) on fire for specified amount of time.

!strip – Strips target of all equipment.

!ragdoll – Ragdolls target.

!hp – Sets target(s) hp to specified amount.

!explode – Explodes target player.

!forcespawn – Forces a target to respawn.

What is In character and what is Out of character?

In Character, or IC, is the default state within the server. You are playing a role, in my case it would be that of a Spec-Ops Sangheili within the Swords of Sanghelios. When you are IC, you are speaking for, behaving as, and beholden to the motivations of your CHARACTER.

Out of Character, or OOC, is a circumstantial state that you enter while in admin sits, or discussing things that pertain to the fact that this is all just a video game. It is the state in which you speak as a PLAYER rather than a CHARACTER within a fictional universe.

Are you willing to work with a Game Maker Team?

Absolutely, that is why I am signing up. I wish to help the team create meaningful roleplay interactions with the players, and to assist other Game Makers during events to provide a better experience for my fellow players.

What is the purpose of a Game Maker?

To provide fun and interesting stories to the players on the server, to drive roleplay in ways that can’t happen passively, and most importantly in my opinion, to give meaning to all the ranks and training players go through by providing them situations with which to test their leadership, competency, and sometimes even their morals. Or in short: To make events.

Give us a full event idea you have. ( 3 Paragraphs )

It would begin on the main server, a military freighter exits slipspace in the planet’s orbit, trailing fire and barely maintaining structural integrity. After a few moments of frantic hails that request for assistance along the lines of, “Papa papa papa*, This is the UNSC Cargo Cult to any who receive this broadcast. We have taken heavy damage to our stern, our engines are failing, and we need immediate assistance! Authorization code Hotel-Foxtrot-tack-one-three-niner-niner-eight. Repeat, This is the UNSC Cargo Cult to any who- Shit! They’re here-“ The transmission cuts as four SDV-class Corvettes exit slipspace astern the Cargo Cult in a screening formation. They are quickly flanked by a single, CRS-class Light Cruiser. Instead of destroying the UNSC ship, the Corvettes move forward of it while the CRS maneuvers atop it and begins sending boarding parties.

Papa papa papa is a radio protocol that signals to clear comms for an emergency transmission. It is pronounced “Puh-paw”

At this point, the Navy will have a chance to give assistance, as will the SoS/HoJ fleets. Fighters will be deployed, the corvettes firing on anyone who comes too close while the CRS blows a hole in the top of the cargo ship and begins extracting its cargo. Once accomplished, which will be about 5-10 minutes, to avoid the players murdering too much of the fleet, the ships will warp away, leaving the cargo ship to crash to the ground now that it is no longer being held up by the CRS, and its engines having failed due to damage. This will occur regardless of whether the players destroy the CRS or not. However, if they destroy the CRS it will cause more damage to the freighter and there will be less survivors, and ensure that the ship will never fly again.

Throughout the event, the Cargo Cult’s captain will be shouting about his crew being slaughtered, and the integrity of his ship further failing, hinting at the possibility that they’re only being held aloft by the CRS itself(but never outright stating that. Spoon-feeding is bad). If the players capture the CRS, then they can let the freighter back down and later it can be repaired and sent back into service.

The players will be able to search for the crew, and they may find some survivors, including the bridge crew. They will relay this information to the players in charge at the time:

We were on a routine cargo run bringing colony supplies to Tampa, one of the fringe worlds, when we made a slipspace hop near a dense asteroid field and before we knew it, they were on us like carrion. We managed to make a jump out of system while they tore apart our escort, but not before sustaining heavy damage.

The Captain will provide the jump point that they were attacked at, and request that the forces on the planet(The players) retrieve those supplies, insisting that they are extremely important to the survival of Colony New Tampa. If any players are smart enough to investigate the route taken, it would point to a known, dangerous area of space that is plagued with pirates. When questioned as to why they went that way, which is clearly outside of their designated route, the Captain will explain that time was critical, and they were behind schedule due to an over-zealous harbor master checking their entire manifest. There’s been smuggling issues in their homeport and the port command was being extra cautious.

The players in charge are free to hold a briefing in whatever manner they see fit. They should have enough information from speaking with the captain to formulate a plan. If they don’t, or don’t want to come up with something,

Earth is our home, and the colonies are her children. Right now, one of her children is in dire need of our assistance. The freighter Cargo Cult, as you all are aware, was sacked by pirates, and supplies heading to one of our colonies were stolen. We will be deploying a small recon force to identify the suspected pirate base in an asteroid field not too far from here, and when they locate it. We’ll be reacquiring those assets. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you all that after the devastation of this on-going war, humanity is at a critical point that will determine its survival in the universe. These colonies are that insurance. Protecting them, and doing what we can to maintain their success is of the utmost importance. SoS and HoJ, if you would lend us some of your forces for this offensive, Earth would be greatly appreciative.

The primary objective would be retrieving the supplies and getting them out. The secondary objective would be cleansing the asteroid base of its occupants. Should the CRS be captured or destroyed instead of escaping, the primary goal would be eliminating occupants of the station, with a secondary of destroying the base.

The main mission would take place on the moonbase map, where a small fleet of jackal pirates are holing up, all under the command of a T’vaoan Shipmistress Orok Kalatto. As such, most of the enemies will be Kig-yar in nature, with some Sangheili and Jiralhanae scattered in as they found a life of piracy to be to their calling. There may even be one or two human elements, as Kig-Yar are not as fussy about who they fight and trade with as the Covenant are, and this is a large pirate outpost for trading stolen goods. Think Port Royal but in space.(If humans are too much then scratch that, but personally I don’t see it as too much of a stretch for human pirates to be working with Kig-Yar pirates on occasion.)

The fight to the base will be hard. There will be lots of aircraft for the AF/Navy to combat while ground troops push forward and assault the defenses of the pirate base, lined with snipers and turret towers galore. Once the air units clear out the ships and soften up the defenses, the ground units will push into the base proper.(If possible I’d like to get a few players as jackal snipers to suppress the ground troops until the air force can accomplish its goals, then later as a few Sangheili to ambush the players inside the base.)

Depending on how fast the objectives are met, there will be reports of pirate ships slipspacing out of there en masse, as they’re pirates and they’re not going to die defending this place like Covenant would. This includes the Shipmistress and her crew.

FORCE DEPLOYMENT

UNSC

Marines: Spearheading the assault alongside other ground elements, they will be utilized as Marines were meant to be utilized. They are the MAIN fighting force. They will be slogging their way up into the enemy lines and securing the perimeter of the base entrance, then pushing inside.

Air Force/Navy: Provided with a few air vehicles to counter enemy corvettes, fighters, and gunships. They will not be allowed to fire on ground troops, however because the friendly ground forces will be too close and nobody likes friendly fire.

ODST: If they want to drop(because I know they love to) their goal will be pushing from behind enemy lines, trying to cut off any retreating enemies and shut down the port. There will be a corvette getting ready to leave that they will have the opportunity to board and destroy.

ONI: Why would ONI go on a simple pirate base assault? If they’re there, see: Marine goals.

Dogma/Prowler/Valk: Can use jump boots, especially since this is on an asteroid. Gravity is low. Careful not to fly away and run out of fuel! Otherwise they’ll be assisting the Marines.

Everyone else: See: Marine goals.

I want to emphasize that the Marines are going to be the main force here.

SoS/HoJ

Infantry: Support the Marines in their push for the base entrance, then secure it. This is a UNSC operation, you are there to assist.

Rangers/Jump Brutes: Jump boots allowed, maybe a single banshee or vampire for each faction to assist AF/Naval, otherwise assist the ground push, providing counter-sniper fire for the main forces.

Spec-Ops: Dropping with ODST and working alongside them on the same goal. Honestly, let them use the ODST drop pods if there aren’t any SoS pods. They’re supposed to have them, and if the system is broken, we find workarounds. There will be a corvette getting ready to leave that they will have the opportunity to board and destroy/capture.

The colony supplies will be located near the giant elevator on the map, down inside. They will have to be moved onto the platform and lifted so that pelicans can then move them to a ship and get them to the colony.

Depending on how fast the base is pushed, there may or may not be a bomb that has to be defused by EOD waiting in the base.

There will also be captured slaves and civilians that were going to be sold as slaves throughout the cells in the installation that can be rescued. No, the pirates aren’t going to execute them. They’re just slaves and prisoners. However, they may use them for cover.

If another GM or player wishes to help out as an NPC, we can even do a hostage rescue situation, where a Jackal bargains for freedom by promising not to execute the prisoners. The players can handle that in whatever way they want to.

I, Vhetra, agree and understand that I am not staff, and it is not my job to do staff duties, unless there is 0 staff on I will not use my commands unless needed. I also agree that I will not noclip/abuse my powers.

I, Vhetra, acknowledge that this application is to be filled out with complete honesty. Being accepted will hold me at a higher standard in behavior and demeanor. Not doing my job or abusing will result in an instant demotion.

I, Vhetra, Swear to uphold the server rules, enforce them, stay within the limits and rights given to me by my assigned rank within GM's, and to keep a calm head and clear judgement when dealing with staff and or players in order to ensure fairness to all who join the server.

And that if I Vhetra am found in violation of the rules I swore to uphold, and of this contract that I can and will be removed from GM's and or staff and forever barred from re-applying, along with any other consequences that are deemed necessary.
