Hello ladies and gentlemen. To those of you who do not know me I am Atlas, also known as Lex, and the current Halo RP Head Gamemaker. The gamemakers and I are always looking for ways to improve the events to satisfy all of the player base. We are now turning directly to you all for suggestions on ways we could improve our events and their quality. Please feel free to post anything you'd like to see out of the gamemaker team under this thread, there are no limits on what you can request. All serious requests will be taken to account and if there are any questions I will be actively checking this thread.

For some events have different battalions with different jobs. I sometimes see that some goals are hijacked by other, more powerful forces.

Also Marines need some loving too!

With maps I understand there is a limit of how many can be on the server at one time. How about making a document with a list of ALL the maps GMs want to use that are put in for a rotation every week or two. A few maps would be used for a bit then new ones will be put in to replace them as to prevent them from going stale.

While the majority of these maps are for SWRP, and a few of them the server already has; a lot of these maps could be tested and salvaged by the gamemakers for future events. They're reliable maps and I have used the vast majority of them in my past experience as a gamemaker.

A secondary request would be for gamemakers to do less RP during events (actively participating as event characters), and tend to the players more for those who require things they do not spawn with for instance. (jetpacks, banshees, hornets, etc.)

Use a different event format. What I mean is don't have the same units havhave the same jobs every damn time

Please if you have any more continue posting. I, Atlas and Zeus will have a conversation and will hopefully be implementing these suggestions immediately.

I know this is probably out of the GM's control but if we still had an event server again I feel like we could have more quality events that way we could take specific squads of marines,SOS, or ONI and give the players a RP that's focused around them and their squad members that way people won't feel like they're getting generic OBJ's every event due to the RP being based on them this would also cut out the player base complaining about a 30 minute set up time with only one GM trying to do everything. But other than that my suggestion the GM's could improve on at this moment would be to try and make Events that weren't so predictable now I know this is easier said than done maybe this is due to the same maps over and over again but the current formula for an event is this Briefing Marines and SOS move and secure one objective then get ONI another objective somewhere in between AF gets to fly and ODST's drop now this would be fine but we use the same maps and we push and kill the same things what I would advise is adding your own flare to your events, for example, add players you trust to be event characters and actually RP as civilians or Insurgents with a conscious give them the imperssion that not all of the NRF are mindless killers (although they are NPC's) and not a 1000% hp super soldier that one shots you with a spartan laser

TL;DR Make your event stand out to people make them remember your event through either difficulty or RP even a mix of both

as well as a solution to the same old maps we could use two different map playlists that everyone agrees on and swap between the pools of maps every 3-5 months depending on if Will is okay with that.

I rather see more passive rp events instead of constant fighting in every map we go to its gotten boring when that happens with everyone with the sane objective doing the same exact thing with these event characters constantly being hostile without sort of norm of talking to civilians or Colonies military that are not like the insurgency etc.


Passive Rp on Planets like Staying on an Outpost for some time as a mission

Back in the day Colt Miller a former ND used to do events for outpost were we are station there for awhile to cover some marine platoon being shipped out and sometimes mini events take place there, (Note that after these mini events there was training or passive rp time taking place after that) until after 1-2 hours of being there go back to home base

Well said. In my past, I was a gamemaker for a server with over a hundred players online daily. On top of that, I had to make events on a two-hour schedule, every two hours on the hour. Sometimes even every hour. What made this bearable and kept my fellow gamemakers and I sane was that we had an event server. If the community budget is too limited to make one, then a crude suggestion would be to revise your least popular gamemode into a gamemaker server for HaloRP.

This would allow for better map preparations, extended time for brainstorming event ideas, greater coordination between gamemakers and the moderation team, and allow for a more coherent and immersive event.

well in my opinion improving upon event stories and their flexibility should come first, its a great feeling for players when they know that what they did matters, instead of going in, shooting things, leaving and hearing "good job guys"
furthermore im positive that making events flexible and giving players choices would not only make things interesting, but it would also let them THINK for themselves, instead of blindly walking about and hoping they can kill something before some OP class deletes it.

summarizing it - make events flexible and story driven, but don't make shit up on the spot (example being "go here and stop them from stealing our undefended supplies) as a dungeon master of DND I can tell you from experience, its boring, do research into halo lore, and just put something together, getting sick and tired of always seeing a frigate and a halcyon, there are carriers heavy cruisers light cruisers destroyers etc etc. (doing that gives navy more too :) )

While some can agree with most of what you say, myself included, being a D&D Dungeon Master doesn't open the doors to all forms of RP. Almost anybody could say that and get away with it, but to have true experience in making a roleplay environment for more than a room full of players, you should at least have some experience GM'ing for MMO's.

Even so, you do still bring up some valid arguments.

We have or I know we use to have an event server. We’re not poor by any means either. Maybe bringing back the event server is a good idea. I will speak to Will and the Halo Executive staff.

We had an event server in the past. I believe it became the dev server.

I think some events should have twists like next to the end. Example
We have been led into finding out who was the mastermind behind something
We find a Laptop With Images of one of the ONI Agents and some text saying Mission to infuriate the base and collect Data is in process
We question the ONI Agent and then he calls back up invading the Station
Infiltrator escapes With data
Now you have a campaign to find him and capture him or kill him (you can have about 3 events finding him)

Those events were fairly common in the past, I wasnt too much a fan, but I dont play there any longer so if it is done right then I believe it could work well.
